Joe Schmitt writes a weekly blog called The Good Life, featuring information about the region’s history, culture, climate and economy. The blog also showcases new residents, clubs and organizations, outdoor recreational opportunities and local events.
With the school year quickly coming to an end, there are plenty of fun things to do for kids and families. Parks and recreation coordinators and local organizations are busily preparing city parks, cleaning and filling swimming pools, and registering kids and families for different activities and events. Many cities in the region have popular swim programs in addition to tennis lessons, T-Ball and baseball programs, and soccer camps to name just a few.
There's truly something for every interest; Nature Day Camp at the Yakima Area Arboretum, the "Extreme Expedition" summer camp in Selah, and the Yakima Greenway's ongoing "Kidding Around" program are just a sample of the variety of activities and camps available to local youth.
There are dozens of school and church hosted camps and day trips to participate in as well, covering everything from sports to drama to ballet--even educational field trips hosted by the Yakima Valley Museum.
Check out this comprehensive list of activities for kids around our valley this summer and register your kids for some fun today!
