Harvest Celebration are in Full Swing at Farms Up and Down the Valley

October 22, 2013

I LOVE this time of year in the Yakima Valley. The days are still warm, mornings are crisp and cool and evening sunsets are breathtaking. The fall foliage is on display from Grandview to Naches, and area farms are celebrating the bounty of harvest time with young and old alike. Below are local farms with special festivities and events happening this month promising something to do every weekend in October.Bills Berry Farm in Grandview: Pick ripe, juicy apples off the trees, squeeze your own fresh apple juice, enjoy warm apple cider doughnuts.  There is a hay ride through the orchards, corn mazes for kids and adults, fire pits to sit by to warm up. Choose your pumpkins decorations, from small to large pumpkins and gourds in the open fields.

The kids will enjoy petting the farm animals, the barnyard train ride and the pony rides. It is easy to spend the day playing at the farm.  BBQ burgers, hotdogs and chili are available for lunch. There are picnic tables to enjoy your meal while listening to live music. There are numerous photo opportunities, play areas, even a tire swing and tree house. Bills Berry Farm is open Fridays and Saturdays during the month of October. Admission is free. $5
